Valarie Johnston, CPC (Certified Professional Coder), founded Optimum Medical Management originally under the name of Danval Medical Billing in 2001. Her strong background in accounting, medical billing and practice management serves her well in growing her business and helping her clients. Among her business experiences includes 15 years in hospital and physician billing and coding.

She is the current Educational Officer of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and the Co-Chair of the Midwest Regional Users Group for Allscripts; she is a member of the Healthcare Billing and Management Association (HBMA), the American Medical Billing Association (AMBA), the Medical Association of Billers (MAB), and the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).
